Junior Sleeping Camp

kampfeest

The Junior Sleeping Camp is the perfect mix between hockey and the real campfeeling. De Bovelander staffmembers will take you on an adventure, where we will also play a lot of hockey obviously! All juniors between the age of 9 and 12 are more than welcome on this sleeping camp. This four-day camp revolves around hockey and all the fun around it. We will vary the trainings with games and an adventurous eveningprogram. Afterwards, you will sleep in own tent with some of your best friends!

The camp

All enjoyment at the Junior Sleeping Camp

At Junior Sleep Camp, we will of course play hockey, compete in matches and enjoy the social programme. We start on Sunday at 1 p.m. and unfortunately, this fantastic camp will come to an end on Wednesday at 5.30 p.m. Together with your besties, you will learn lots of new skills during the varied training sessions, you will shine on the field during the tournament, and you won't be able to get enough of the social programme in the evenings. The Junior Sleepover Camp is the place to be!

Program

Training, tournament en tips

You are probably joining our camp for one thing: hockey! During the camp, there will be a lot of training. A round of our Bovelander Hockeytournhament will be played every day. At the end of the camp we will of course play the grand finale. The element of com-petition os one of the most beautiful aspects of our sport. No one else understand that as much as an (ex-)international. Since 1996, Bovelander has collected a lot of contacts. During every camp, one of these pros comes by to give a special hockeyclinic, where they will teach you their techniques and tricks. The (ex-)international make the camp a special and unique experience. Learn even more about hockey and get tips from a real pro!

Dag and evening program of a Junior Sleeping Camp

You play hockey in a well-bonded team. Winning with a team that you can always rely on is what makes the game so great. Both inside the playing lines, as well as outside of them. Together we create a crazy strong team! We do that for example, by challenging each other during crazy excersices or the exciting tournament rounds. Each hockeycamp has it's own unique games, because our trainers can give their own twist to them. And let us tell you, their creativity is unknown! Together you will be playing a game of "I love Holland", create your own act during our final evening or play Living Cluedo. Before you know it, your new teamies are your best friends!

Teamspirit

Hockey is all about teamwork. You can't win without a goalkeeper to stop the goals, a strong defence, midfielders to connect the lines and strikers to score goals. A strong team must be formed. At Bovelander, we believe that the programme off the pitch is just as important as the programme on the pitch. That's why we play fun games in the evenings and really focus on bonding!

Experiences of others

Bedankt!”

How is the camp supervised? Who is responsible during the camps?

Every camp has at least three lead staff members. One oversees the overall organization, including scheduling, communication with parents, and coordination with other staff. Another is responsible for food, drinks, and first aid; they will contact you before camp starts about allergies or dietary needs. The third lead is in charge of training and the hockey program. Additional staff are assigned to small groups and will accompany the children throughout the day.

Special requests
My child would like to come to a mini/junior camp, but is too young. Can they still join?

Our website shows the age categories for the different camps. Most of the time it's no problem if the child is a bit younger than the average age. We would appreciate it if you let us know beforehand by calling or mailing, so we can take this into account.

My child would like to come to a camp, but is too old. Can they still join?

If your child is too old for the Mini Hockey Camp, they can join the Junior Hockey Camp. From age 12, they are welcome at the Hockey & Surf Camps at Zandvoortsche HC. Want them to join one last Junior Camp with friends? Contact us to discuss the options.

Can my child be placed in a group with friends?

You can list preferred groupmates during registration. We do our best to honor these requests. If your child isn't happy with the placement, we can easily change the groups on-site.

My child needs a different clothing size than those listed. Can I request another size?

The clothing the children receive is available in sizes 140 to XL. You can select a children’s size during sign-up. Need a larger size? No problem — just give us a call or email us.

My child has allergies, dietary needs, or other special requirements. Can they still attend a camp?

You can note any special needs on the registration form. A dedicated staff member will follow up before the camp to ensure appropriate care and accommodation for children that have special requirements. They will contact you before the camp starts.

My child is a goalie. Are there special camps for goalkeepers?

Goalkeepers are also very welcome at our day and overnight camps. Please note that these camps are not for goalkeepers specifically! Please let us know so we're aware and can provide fun goalkeeper exercises.

Slaapkampen - Programma
How often do children train during camp?

The number of training sessions per day depends on the type of camp, like we mention above. We strive for two hockey moments before lunch and two afterwards. These can be general training, specialized training and tournament rounds. Depending on the weather and the social program we might decide to move the hockey moments around.

Are there non-hockey activities during camp?

During the sleep camps in Zandvoort the children will regularly visit the beach or Zandvoorts town centre for games or activities. During some of the other sleep camps the staff wil take the children swimming or take them on another fun activity.

Sleep Camps – Arrival & Departure
My child is going to one of the camps. What time should they arrive and what time can I pick them back up?

The junior sleep camps start Sunday afternoon at 1:00 PM and end on Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM. The sleep camps at Zandvoortsche HC and HC HDS start on Sunday at 1:00 PM and end on Saturday at 0:30 PM. The Ultimate Hockey & Fun Camps start on Sunday at 1:00 PM and end on Friday at 0:30 PM.

Can I bring my child later or pick them up earlier due to holiday plans?

If a child misses a day this is mostly no problem. Contact us beforehand to tell us about it and list it on the registration form, so we can make sure the staff knows about it.

My child is arriving at one of your camps from abroad. Is it possible that they are picked up form an airport of train station nearby?

On the registration form you can indicate that your child would like to use the pick-up/drop-off service. This service entails that a member of staff or one of our employees picks your child up from an airport (Amsterdam/Rotterdam) or train station nearby. We'll make sure your child knows it's us and we'll escort them to and from the airport or train station.

Will my child have time to unpack on the day of arrival?

On the first day of camp the children will have plenty of time to unpack and get to know the other children at the camp. Once all children have arrived and gotten to know eachother, the hockey program will start.

Will my child have time to pack on the day of departure?

On the last day of camp the children will have plenty of time to pack their belongings. Is your child leaving early on the final day? We'll make sure the staff let your child know, so they can leave on time.

Sleep Camps - Sleeping
Where does my child sleep during a junior sleep camp?

During a junior sleep camp the children sleep in tents that they bring themselves. They are free to arrange with who to share a tent. There are always children that come alone. Do you have an open spot in your tent? Let us know beforehand by mail or phone.

Is it possile for my child to share a tent with friends?

We determine who share a tent during the hockey and surf camps at Zandvoort beforehand. We take the children's preferences in mind. The tents fit four children each. Do you want to share a tent with more than four friends? We will try to split the group over multiple tents.

Do boys and girls sleep separated?

For all our camps boys and girls sleep separately in different tents. The staff also sleeps separated from the children, but they will of course be close by.

Sleep Camps – Packing
Can children bring their phone to camp?

During our sleep camps the children will make new friends with who they like to make pictures and exchange contact info. For this, the children can use their phones on moments indicated by staff. The rest of the time the phones are turned in to the staff. So the children are free to bring their phone, but it's not mandatory!

What should my child bring to camp?

Three weeks before the start of the camp each participant will get a camp newsletter that lists the latest info and what you should bring to camp.

To get a general idea, here is a basic packing list:

  • Sleeping bag, pillow and bedsheet: the children sleep om field beds. Thin sleeping mats are provided, if you want to bring a matress this is possible, but no larger than 70 cm by 200 cm.
  • Hockey gear: stick, mouth guard, shin guards etc...
  • Toiletry and towels
  • Multiple sets of sporting clothes
  • Warm sweater and rain jacket
  • Clothes that can get dirty
  • Atletic shirt or t-shirt in the colors of your team (team colors will be listed in the camp newsletter you get beforehand)
  • Swminning and beach clothes
  • Decorations for the tent
My child is flying or taking the train and can’t bring bulky items. Can they borrow equipment like a hockey stick?

Children that travel with a lot of baggage can borrow a stick. If this is needed, contact us by phone or mail to discuss the possibilities.

My child has an allergy. Is it safe to let them go to camp?

Food and drink for the sleep camps is served by a catering company. Before camp we send them a list of participants containing allergies and dietary preferences of the children. For every camp, one staff member is responsible for food and drink. This staff member will contact you about this before the start of the camp. They will provide good alternatives and will make sure to avoid cross contamination. It is important to let us know about the allergy. You can list this on the registration form.
